In short
CGC appointed EB Games, which has more than 170 locations in Canada, an Official Submission Center on September 3, 2026. EB Games will take CGC submissions at a Montreal expo on September 11–13, with in-store submissions “later this year.” No in-store date, tiers or fees have been announced yet.
What CGC announced
In a September 3, 2026 announcement, CGC said EB Games, which has more than 170 locations in Canada, has been appointed an Official Submission Center and “will be accepting submissions in stores later this year.” Collectors will be able to submit TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards through EB Games for CGC authentication and grading.
- Now: EB Games is an Official Submission Center for CGC in Canada.
- September 11–13, 2026: EB Games will accept CGC submissions at what CGC calls the “Funda Expo” in Montreal.
- Later in 2026: in-store submissions at EB Games locations. CGC has not given a date.
What the two companies said
“This partnership gives Canadian collectors an even more convenient way to submit their cards for CGC certification,” said Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of Certified Collectibles Group, CGC's parent.
Stephan Tetrault, owner of EB Games Canada, said: “This partnership starts with cards, and we see a larger long-term opportunity to explore additional collectible grading categories with CGC over time.”
Why it matters for Canadian collectors
Drop-off at a local store removes the packing and cross-border shipping step for many collectors. It also comes as CGC's volume climbs: GemRate's August recap counted a record 937,000 CGC grades in August, including about 65,000 semi-rigid AUTH cards. More drop-off points do not make grading faster, so pick your tier for the turnaround you can live with, not the convenience of the counter.
For a sense of entry pricing, Sports Illustrated reported on September 2 that CGC's Bulk tier costs $17 per card with a 25-card minimum and an estimated 150 working days. Our CGC grading guide covers the grading scale and tiers, and our card grading near me guide compares local drop-off with mail-in.
Before you take cards to an EB Games counter
- Wait for the in-store launch. CGC says in-store submissions start later this year; check with your store before you go.
- Ask which tiers and fees apply. The announcement does not list services, prices or any store fees.
- Sort your cards first. Show-floor and counter submissions are easier when you already know which cards are worth the fee. Our National 2026 drop-off guide has a show-day checklist that applies to the Montreal event too.
Know which cards are worth the trip
Before you bring a stack to the counter, sort out the contenders. CardGrade gives you a photo-based pre-screen of visible condition so you can decide which cards are worth the fee. It is not an official grade, authentication or appraisal, and CardGrade is not affiliated with PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC or TAG. Try a pre-screen
What we could not confirm
- The in-store launch date, and whether all 170+ EB Games locations will take submissions.
- Which CGC tiers and prices EB Games will offer, and whether any handling fee applies.
- Details of the Montreal event beyond the dates and name CGC gives.
