Open SGC's official Cert Verification page, then compare its record with the card and holder in hand. A matching record is a useful cross-check, not a standalone authentication result.
Not an SGC card? View all grading company lookups
An SGC cert lookup checks a code against SGC's official record. Use it to compare the returned card description, grade, and designations with the holder and card you are considering. SGC's current lookup accepts seven digits for black labels and an 11-character code formatted as XXXXXXX-XXX for green and white labels.
A matching record is not the same as an authentication determination for the physical holder. Compare all visible details, including the card, label, grade, cert code, and any available images. When something material does not line up, pause the purchase rather than assuming the lookup alone resolves it.
SGC's published grading scale currently lists Pristine 10 and Gem Mint 10 separately. Its descriptions are guidelines for its grading team, not a value formula. For a pricing decision, compare recent completed sales for the exact card, grade, label version, and venue.

Recheck every character and use the correct format for the holder style. A failed lookup alone is not a final authenticity conclusion.
Pause the transaction and compare the physical holder with the official result. A discrepancy warrants follow-up with SGC or the seller; it is not a conclusive diagnosis by itself.
If the holder has a QR code, an unexpected destination is a reason to investigate further. Use the official lookup directly as a second check.
Visible gaps, damage, or signs of opening are reasons to request clearer photos, a return option, or an in-person review before purchasing.
Ask for clear images of the card, front and back of the holder, and label before relying on a cert lookup.
A certification record is not a value estimate. Compare recent completed sales for the exact card, grade, label version, and venue.
Use all seven digits for a black label. For a green or white label, SGC asks for all 11 characters in the form XXXXXXX-XXX.

If the holder has a QR code, make sure it leads to an expected SGC destination. It is a convenience check, not a standalone authentication result.
If the record, holder, or card details conflict, pause the purchase and seek better photos or guidance from SGC or the seller.
The same card graded by different companies often gets different numbers. Use this table to translate a SGC grade into its rough equivalent across PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC, and TAG.
| SGC | PSA | BGS | CGC | TAG (1000-pt) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SGC 10 Pristine | PSA 10 | BGS 9.5–10 (Pristine needs 50/50) | CGC 9.5–10 Pristine | 950–1000 |
| SGC 9 / 9.5 | PSA 9 | BGS 9 / 9.5 | CGC 9 / 9.5 | 875–949 |
| SGC 8.5 | PSA 8 | BGS 8 / 8.5 | CGC 8.5 | 800–874 |
| SGC 8 | PSA 7 | BGS 7 / 7.5 | CGC 7.5 | 700–799 |
| SGC 7 | PSA 6 | BGS 6 / 6.5 | CGC 7 | 600–699 |
| SGC 6 | PSA 5 | BGS 5 / 5.5 | CGC 6 | 500–599 |
