Introducing Precision Grading: Pixel-Perfect Centering Meets AI Analysis
We've combined our centering measurement tool with AI grading for the most accurate centering subgrade possible. Same cost, better results.

A New Way to Grade Your Cards
Today we're launching Precision Grading — a new grading mode in the CardGrade.io dashboard that combines pixel-perfect centering measurement with our existing AI analysis of corners, edges, and surface condition.
When you click "Grade My Card," you'll now see two options: Quick Grade and Precision Grade. Quick Grade works exactly as before — upload your card, and the AI estimates all four subgrades in about 10 seconds. Precision Grade adds a centering measurement step that takes about 30 extra seconds but gives you significantly more accurate centering data.
Both options cost 1 credit.
Why Measurement Beats Estimation
Our AI does an excellent job analyzing corners, edges, and surface condition — these are visual pattern recognition tasks where neural networks shine. AI centering estimation is also strong on most standard bordered cards.
But centering is unique among the four subgrades because it's mathematically deterministic. The left border is either 55% of the total horizontal space or it isn't. There's no judgment call. So why estimate something you can measure exactly?
Precision Grading gives you that exact measurement. It's especially valuable for cards where every percentage point matters:
- Foil and holographic cards — where reflective surfaces make border detection harder for any tool
- Dark or black borders — where the border and card edge blend together
- Vintage cards — with irregular printing and inconsistent border widths
- Full-bleed designs — with minimal visible border to reference
For high-value cards near grading thresholds, the difference between 55/45 and 60/40 centering is the difference between a gem and a near-miss. Precision Grading eliminates the guesswork.
